The formed channel receiver (receiver tube) is designed to allow the attachment of a vise or other accessory to the bench without permanently mounting it to the top.  By using a receiver tube(s) you can easily remove the accessory when it's not needed and allows you to use the entire work surface of the bench.  Each channel is formed out of 1/4" thick steel and has three tapped holes with set screws on both the outside and bottom of the channel to eliminate any slop or play.  The addition of receiver tube(s) most commonly accompanies the purchase of a Wilton ATV receiver hitch vise, or a receiver plate.  The receiver plate is used to mount a traditional bench vise or other accessory such as a grinder, belt sander, small drill press, etc.

The receiver plate is used to mount a traditional bench vise or other accessory to your bench without permanently drilling holes in the work surface itself.  Utilizing the receiver plate requires the purchase of a "receiver tube" when ordering your bench or table.  The receiver plate is 3/8" mild steel with laser cut holes for fastening a vise or other accessory, (Note: you may need to drill additional holes in the field to mount your accessories).
